Tatiana Roulin
Artist Statement:
“I have a passion for painting Nature in all seasons and scenery. I’ve painted on many different locations across the States, from East to West coast. My latest Nocturnal series is proven to be very popular among the people. I love painting night scenes both for aesthetic and artistic reasons. Personally, I feel that the night has its unique beauty. It’s a time of tranquility and mystery, a time that stirs imagination and stimulates creativity. The bright light of the day makes things seen more clearly but the shades of night and dusk let your mind transform them into any magic you wish: from monsters lurking in the corner to fairies dancing in the moonlight. Professionally, a night scene with its limitation of colors and the use of light, its strict demands of color transitions and composition is always an interesting challenge.
Generally in my landscapes I focus on depicting the overall atmosphere of the place I paint. As a representational painter, I aim on capturing the momentum of reality and reflecting my own personal vision. The overall atmosphere and interaction between light and darkness are the major things I emphasize in my own work of any subject. Whenever I paint, I try to make people see the ordinary in a new perspective. A reminder that beauty is all around. It is just a matter of stopping for a moment to see it. People find that my paintings ‘can evoke feelings of calm happiness and joy’, can ‘light up the room’, and ‘enable us to stop and appreciate a view we may see everyday'”.
