Diane L’Heureux

Diane L’Heureux

“As a native of Southeastern New England, I have always been inspired by the great variety and natural beauty of the local landscape and shoreline. As much as possible, I work from my imagination or from life, whether working en plein air or from the live model or still life setup. My work is primarily in oil or in pastel with some work in charcoal or monotype printing.”
Diane received a BA in Visual Arts from Goucher College in Maryland and then took a long detour with a tech career and raising a family before returning to a full-time pursuit of art. Her pursuit started with two years in North Carolina at The Fine Arts League of Asheville, an atelier founded and led by Benjamin F Long III, a master fresco painter and portrait artist. These studies were followed by two years study with Paul Ingbretson at his studio in Manchester NH. She has been trained in the classical tradition, but is equally drawn to the wonderful color and surface variations of the Impressionists and modern artists and to the flexibility and spontaneity of monotype printmaking.

Her work has been exhibited at:

  • Newport Art Museum, Coleman Arts Center, Newport RI
  • Haywood Park Gallery, Asheville NC
  • Highland Gallery, Cashiers NC
  • Spring Bull Gallery, Newport
  • Conanicut Island Art Association, Jamestown RI
